Abstract

The future of a nation lies in its children. Ironically, however, children in Indonesia remain vulnerable to violence and abuse, even within the school environment. As the nation's young buds, children's rights to live, grow, and develop in a safe environment free from all forms of violence must be safeguarded. Law, as a protective tool, plays a crucial role in achieving this. This journal thoroughly examines the role of law in protecting children from violence and abuse in schools. It begins with an in-depth analysis of relevant child protection laws, such as Law Number 35 of 2014, along with its derivative regulations. The role of law enforcement agencies, such as the police, prosecutors, and courts, in handling cases of violence and abuse against children in schools is also discussed. Furthermore, the journal highlights the critical role of schools and teachers in preventing violence and abuse in schools and providing protection to child victims. Various challenges faced in enforcing the law against perpetrators of violence and abuse against children in schools, along with solutions to overcome them, are also comprehensively discussed. Through this journal, it is hoped that understanding the role of law in protecting children from violence and abuse in
schools can be further enhanced. Additionally, the journal is also expected to encourage various parties to work together to create a safe and violence-free school environment for Indonesian children, for a brighter future of the nation.
